Ashuganj 400 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant (East) Project starts operation in Bangladesh

2022-12-26

On Dec. 11 local time, the Ashuganj 400 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant (East) Project, Genertec CNTIC's EPC contract for a power plant project in Bangladesh, received the OAC certification. This marked that the power plant has basically fulfilled all responsibilities and obligations contained in the contract and officially entered commercial operation, starting to supply electricity to the State Grid of Bangladesh.

The power plant is located in Ashuganj, the Brahmanbaria District of the Chittagong Division, Bangladesh. It can improve the installed power capacity of Bangladesh by about 2 percent and generate more than 3.3 billion kilowatt hours of electricity each year. Besides, it will provide electricity to 200, 000 local households and benefit about 1.2 million people. Local media outlets, including Daily Bangladesh, reported the project when it officially started operation.

The Ashuganj 400 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant (East) Project is the second benchmark large-scale gas turbine power plant built by Genertec CNTIC in Bangladesh, the first one being the Ghorashal 365MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant Project, which was one of the gas turbine power plants having the largest single-unit installed capacity in Bangladesh. The project has greatly relieved power shortages in Dhaka and has been highly applauded by the Bangladeshi society.
